Runway and Pound Arts are proud to present a triple bill of live folk music from three of the most talented up and coming perfomers currently on the UK folk scene; Flo Perlin, Daisy Chute and Fern Maddie.
Flo Perlin
Flo is a contemporary Folk singer-songwriter from London with Iraqi and Belarusian heritage. She released her new album Characters on 16th July 2021.
Growing up surrounded by an incredibly diverse range of music she learnt to play the cello at the age of five and fell in love with the guitar when her Columbian teacher introduced her to the world of Bossa Nova, influencing her own finger-picking technique. Flo also taught herself piano and started singing at the age of 10 as a way to begin writing songs.
Flo has busked around the Middle East, USA, Europe and Asia (where she ordained as a Buddhist nun in Myanmar), her 2017 debut album Cocooned was well received and in 2019 her EP Stories gained support from national and regional media; including BBC Radio London Robert Elms, BBC Radio Ulster and Folk Radio UK, whilst also being played several times on Tom Robinsons BBC Introducing show. She works closely with The Nest Collective after winning their sought-after song-writing mentorship in 2019, and has supported artists such as Sam Lee, Peggy Seeger and Rachel Newton.

Fern Maddie
Fern is a multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, and experimental folk artist based in Central Vermont (N’Dakinna). Her debut EP, North Branch River, was named one of the 10 best Vermont records of 2020 by Seven Days. After a successful Kickstarter campaign, her debut album, Ghost Story, was released in 2022, and was named The Guardian’s Folk Album of the Month in July 2022, gaining a five-star review.
Blending driving, trancey instrumentals with crisp vocals and the simple lyrical rhythms of old folk songs, Fern’s unique sound is the child of many influences: Old-Time string band music, the revivalist balladeers of the 60s and 70s, dark country, experimental folk-rock, and the modern trad renaissance(s). Her sound has been compared to June Tabor, Kate Rusby, Sharon Van Etten, and Joni Mitchell. Her work as grown over the past three years through collaboration with Colin McCaffrey, a legend in the Vermont folk scene. Colin co-produced both of Fern’s records.
“Maddie’s young, welcoming voice belies a darkly evocative lyricism creating an album that is both unsettling and thrilling.” – Jude Rogers, The Guardian ★★★★★
