Rural Touring Promoters! Jonny Fluffypunk has offered his services to villages in Wiltshire & South Gloucestershire.
To spread a little joy Jonny Fluffypunk has offered to become our Rural Touring Poet in Residence for the duration of Blue Sky and Beyond and he would like to write you a poem. A poem to celebrate the life and soul of your village. This poem is a gift, one to share throughout the community during these difficult and isolated times. In order for Jonny to write this masterpiece, he’s going to require your help. And so he has some questions to ask. But you can tell him anything really – the more specific, the better!
Once you have asked everyone in your village for their input, please send us your findings. We’ll look after this information safely and get it to Jonny, who will then work his magic from the comfort of his newly built shed. The final creation could be a video to share far and wide, a written copy to include in your parish magazine, and some printed versions to dot about the place; to pin to the village noticeboard, place in every window, stick up on lamp posts, wherever and however you choose.
To help get your minds thinking, we have some questions and prompts. Tell us all the village gossip, all the juicy details. What you are missing and what’s been happening since March. Jonny is all ears…
Name of village please? And where in Wiltshire or South Gloucestershire are you… North, East, South, West, middle, up, down or off to the side? Almost in another county!
How would you describe the village to someone who’s never been there? Paint a good picture of it – please don’t just say ‘nice and quiet’! Is it big, posh houses? Pebbledash ex-council semis? Bit of both? Name some of the roads… Is Windsor Lane all Laurel hedges and gravel drives? Are there kids bombing around on their bmx bikes down Coronation View?
Is there a pub? If so, is it three-course meals of Friday night fights? Are they supplying you with Fish and Chips and Lockdown dinners?
Where do you go to walk the dog?
Name a famous person (or more) you could imagine fitting in well in this village…
Any funny stories – however trivial – you could tell?
Any landmarks or historical residents of note?
Are there any regular events, like a village fair or fete. What happens at these? And what has been cancelled this year or postponed/rescheduled – a Rural Touring event. Which one?
Is the annual veg comp going digital this year?
What might the village be known for, if anything? And are you twinned with any nice villages in faraway places?
Is there a rival village? A football team?
Anything else you want to add…?
Stay safe. We’ll see you soon. Love Jonny & Pound Arts. xx
