Running from 29 March – 27 April.
Matthew is a painter of portraits, but much of his work is not about likeness. Rather, he works in series to create a bigger impression of an inner life.
The title of this exhibition refers to the 1984 novel by Milan Kundera, The Unbearable Lightness of being. It is a series of paintings almost entirely of one person whose image has been captured from the artists selection of frozen film stills. The artist has never met the subject and she has no personal significance to the artist. The actor is a proxy, so are the images.
This is a joint exhibition alongside Bath Textile Artists: Textures of Time.
Join us for the Exhibition Opening Event on Thursday 28 March, 6.30pm
Various dates starting from 19th August, 10:00am
