Viewfinder UK Tour 2023.
Hugh Pascall tours the UK in spring and summer 2023, presenting new music from his second album, Viewfinder, due for release in July, alongside music from his 2022 debut album Borderlands with a quintet of star musicians from the UK scene.
Influenced by musicians like Freddie Hubbard, Joe Henderson, Wayne Shorter and Tom Harrell, Hugh’s music is a lyrical, vibrant and modern approach to post-bop jazz; melodic, swinging and modal explorations are complimented by atmospheric and expressive ballads rich in harmony and character.
An award-winning trumpeter and composer, Hugh studied jazz at the Royal Academy of Music and at the Paris Conservatoire. In February 2023 he was elected Associate of the Royal Academy of Music (ARAM) by the Academy’s honours committee.
Recent highlights include touring Europe with The Last Poets, in the UK with Tony Kofi’s Inside Straight and with rising star guitarist Aidan Pope’s new Octet. In 2022 his quartet completed a 20 date tour of the UK to critical acclaim.
His eclectic career has included performances and recordings with a huge variety of artists, regularly performing at festivals and venues across the country and throughout Europe as a sideman. Forthcoming projects include recording with New York guitarist Peter Bernstein as a member of the acclaimed David Ferris Septet.
