A regular performer at Pound Arts for our silent film series, Meg Morley returns, for a second time, to perform solo piano for the Lunchtime Concert Series – sharing her new compositions and improvisations.
Meg is a passionate and multi-talented musician who pursues cross-cultural and interdisciplinary collaborations, primarily focusing on storytelling and improvisation and advocating the essentiality of creativity and creative arts in society.
Clasically-trained from the age of two, she received various acolades for piano, completing a Masters degree in Australia at age twenty three before following more ‘creative’ pursuits in music with improvisation. This led to work as a pianist with dance companies (English National Ballet, Rambert, Pina Bausch), as a composer and improviser with for institutions (BFI Southbank, Viennale, Dublin International Film Festival) and with her own music projects and releases – leading to an Arts Council England ‘Exceptional Talent’ appraisal. In March, Meg releases a collaborative album with Derbyshire’s electronic-based instrumental trio Haiku Salut called The Lost Score – celebrating their commissioned soundtrack for the 1930 German silent film Menschen am Sonntag which they performed at London’s Barbican and at Flatpack Festival in Birmingham.
