May 2 – June 7
Opening Night: Thursday 1 May, 6.30pm – 8pm
Caroline’s on-going printmaking project documents 100 different species of butterflies and moths – from the more common, to giant exotic varieties. In using monochrome, she has explored the breadth of diversity we see in these fascinating creatures, and brings attention to the plight of some of nature’s most fragile animals. Using discarded tetrapak cartons as her surface and a drypoint technique, Caroline draws and hand prints each creature, each print is unique.
Her installation at The Pound features words, wall- painted imagery and a 3D fly-by of over 100 of her unique printed Lepidoptera. There will be a special wall where viewers can create and add their own butterfly or moth to create a unique and collaborative collective ‘flutter’.
