‘A musical hall of mirrors built with warped genius’ 9/10 Guitarist Magazine
Psychedelic vanguards and misfit maestros of Bristol’s BLOOM music collective, THE BRACKISH are an audacious all-star assembly of guitarists Luke Cawthra (Phantom Limb – The Naim Label) and Neil Smith (This Is The Kit – Rough Trade), drummer Matt Jones (Zun Zun Egui – Bella Union) and Port Erin bassist, Jacob Tyghe. Their debut album, 2014’s Big Guys (Lava Thief), righteously filled a kaleidoscopic void in instrumental music and along with 2016’s follow up album, Liquid Of Choice (Bad Elephant Music), the band gained an infamous reputation for their awe-inspiring live shows across the European and UK art rock scene, including the La Ferme Électrique and ArcTanGent festivals. With a third album ‘Firm but Fair’ on Stolen Body Records and a fourth, ‘Atlas Day’ on Brighton’s HalfMeltedBrain records, THE BRACKISH are storming the stage again with a new brew of gracefully strange arrangements and improvised auditory theatre.

Chiyoda Ku, the Bristol band known for their dynamic, gritty yet lusciously melodious sound is thrilled to announce the long-awaited release of their sophomore album, Selecta Perspective, on April 21st, 2023. The first single, Deal With It, was released 3rd March 2023 and will be followed by the second single, There It Was, which is set for release 7th April 2023.
Now featuring vocals from Callum Oak, the band’s sound has blossomed into a heavier, more intense machine. This album features intricate polyrhythms, broken grooves, and jagged riffs that will have you checking to make sure you haven’t broken a bone. While the album showcases the group’s heavy side, it still maintains the candidness and introspection of Chiyoda Ku’s earlier works.
Chiyoda Ku are ravenous for the truth. The band went on hiatus after years of extensive touring around the UK and Europe, numerous festival appearances, van theft induced homelessness and a 3-boys-1-room living arrangement above a Bristol Dive bar. Living in different ends of the country, they were no longer talking, they had flat lined. Half way through the main world event, a faint pulse could be felt between them. After a back and forth the band decided to go for a 2 week writing holiday/lets make up session, this is where they wrote and fine tuned the album.
