Workshop: £60
Learn how to make a mould of a twig and use silver clay to make this one of a kind sterling silver twig ring.
Bring a twig with you or pick from a selection already provided. You will be shown how to make a mould of your twig and then use it together with silver clay to make a ring that will be totally unique.
Silver clay is a very user friendly medium that allows you to easily make some beautiful silver jewellery. It is a combination of finely ground silver particles, an organic binder and water which, when blended together, gives a clay-like substance. You can texture, roll, shape and mould it then let it dry completely. Once it is dry, it is fired and the binder burns away leaving a piece of silver jewellery that is of hall-markable quality. This workshop uses sterling silver clay which is fired in a kiln.
Marianne, from Grey Clouds & Silver Linings, will guide you through the process of making a beautiful and unusual ring for yourself or as a gift.
The course runs from 11am to 2.30pm with a break for lunch whilst your ring is fired.
All tools and materials are provided to make the ring, however you are welcome to bring along a twig and see if it is suitable. The ideal twig would be about 6 inches/150mm long and not too thick, approx 0.25 inches/5mm and with some interesting texture such as moss, lichen or bumps etc, though you are welcome to use a smoother one if you prefer. Extra clay is available to buy on the day, should you want to make another ring , depending on time available.
Lunch is available to buy at the café, as are teas and coffees.
