Suitable for those with some watercolour experience.
10am – 1pm
Loosen up your paintings and learn to keep colours saturated while creating a lakeside scene filled with tree reflections. Catherine will introduce you to her “gravity painting” techniques and help you to move beyond your photos by following the flow of paint and your imagination. You will be encouraged to work swiftly, pool paints and use fewer brushstrokes to create subtle, merging colours with watermarks – perfect for this watery subject.
Catherine will begin with tips on inspiration and composition and go on to demonstrate techniques live throughout the morning. Look at colour, pigment properties and paint handling. Build up cascading washes around flashes of white paper. Layer and lift off dry paint to build definition and fine detail and put light back into your work. The morning concludes with a review to take home troubleshooting tips and compositional pointers from our paintings.
