Pagoda Project unites three standout UK artists—accordionist/composer/educator Paul Hutchinson, clarinettist/bass clarinettist Karen Wimhurst, and fiddle-singer Hannah Cumming, to reimagine British folk with fearless curiosity. Rooted in tradition yet restlessly inventive, the trio move from the ethereal to the gutsy, blending original works and re-shaped tunes with improvisation, humour and vivid dynamic contrast. Their on-stage chemistry and spontaneous interplay mean no two nights are never the same.
Paul Hutchinson (Belshazzar’s Feast) is a BBC Folk Award Best Live Artist nominee, a much-respected accordionist and teacher equally at home in concert halls, dance tents and workshops.
Karen Wimhurst is a widely commissioned composer whose work ranges from chamber music and opera to large-scale collaborations. Eclectic by design, her distinctive playing bridges traditional and jazz inflections with contemporary classical craft.
Hannah Cumming is a dynamic performer who’s effortless “fiddle-singing” (playing and singing simultaneously) grew from a lifelong love of song and strings. A versatile performer across folk, klezmer/Balkan, jazz and pop-folk.
