Madeleine Mitchell, described by The Times as ‘one of the UK’s liveliest musical forces’ has performed as solo violinist and chamber musician in 50 countries in a wide repertoire, including at major festivals and venues such as the BBC Proms, Canberra International Music Festival, Lincoln Center New York, La Folle Journée Tokyo, Seoul Center for the Arts, Wigmore Hall and London’s Southbank Centre London. Engagements in 2026 include The English Music and Three Choirs Festivals with her London Chamber Ensemble Quartet and solo tours of Brazil and the USA. Madeleine’s recitals with spoken introductions are popular with audiences. Mitchell’s discography for which she has been nominated for Grammy and BBC Music Magazine Awards, includes works written for her as well as the popular album ‘Violin Songs’. Australian-born and now UK based as a composer-pianist, Wendy has performed with and had her music played by major international artists such Piers Lane, Elizabeth Connell, Michael Collins, Madeleine Mitchell & the Australian Seraphim Trio at venues ranging from the Amadeus Festival (Geneva), Australian Festival of Chamber Music and the Kusatsu International Summer Festival (Japan). Her recent world premiere recordings on the Naxos label include her ‘Caprice’ for solo violin on Madeleine Mitchell’s acclaimed ‘Violin Conversations’ album as well as accompanying singers Susan Bickley (mezzo), Christopher Gillett (tenor) and Jeremy Huw Williams (baritone) featuring songs by Arthur Benjamin, Edgar Bainton and Grace Williams.
