    About the event

This special concert is Brought to Pound Arts with support from Institut D’Estudis Balearics

Scott Anderson García (violin), Marc Beltrán Sánchez (violin), Xavier Rotger Bonnin (viola) and Joan Fiol Dols (cello).

These four young musicians from Mallorca formed a string quartet in the 2020-21 academic year. Since then, DaBraccio has developed an impressive concert career and repertoire. Their concerts always offer a coherent program and a source of discovery for the audience. They complement their performances with educational research on composers and works. In Spain, they have performed in the Balearic Islands, Catalonia—in 2023 they performed, at the invitation of the Association for the Promotion of Music, in the series at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Barcelona, among other venues—; in Madrid, Vigo, Ponferrada, Burgos, Bilbao, San Sebastián, and also internationally. In 2023 and 2025, they participated in the Académie Internationale de Cuartetos de Cuerda, organized by the Quatour Débussy in Ardèche (France), which led to their participation in the Cordes en Ballade festival both years, offering several concerts as Nouveaux Talents. In 2025, they participated in the Pianino Festival, performing a concert in Chopin's cell in Valldemossa. They have also performed at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole (Italy) and in the Bristol Cathedral recital series, marking their UK debut.

In addition to their numerous individual accolades, they have received numerous group awards and prizes, including: First Prize for Ensemble at the King's Peak International Music Competition (KPIMC Fall 2022); the Special Prize, Master Star/Chamber Music Category at the Amadeus International Music Awards 2022; and 4th Prize, Youth II Category at the London International Music Competition 2022. In 2024, they received masterclasses from the renowned Kronos Quartet at the Philharmonie de Paris. In addition, they have received instruction from professors such as Quatour Débussy, Jonathan Brown (Casals Quartet), Cibrán Sierra (Quiroga Quartet), Jiří Pinkas (Benéwitz Quartet), Petr Maceček (Talich Quartet), Eugenia Ottaviano (Alinde Quartet), Consuelo Díez (composer), and Giuliana Retali (harpsichordist/director), among others.

Their projects include: “Mozart vs. Salieri: Music and Discord”; “Four Elements,” based on poems by T.S. Eliot; “Going Bach”; and “Pocket Symphonies,” which features pianist Javier Hombría’s arrangements for piano quintet of some of the most celebrated symphonies in history. and "Música Viva" (Live Music), an open and continuously evolving program launched in 2022, which features contemporary works by living composers, with a special emphasis on young creators. In 2023, they participated in the Dinamiz-Artj program (Cultural Network of the Institute for Just Transition in Spain), performing in municipalities affected by the energy transition.

Despite their ongoing work with the classical repertoire, the DaBraccios' interests also include a significant focus on contemporary music. This has led them to premiere works by contemporary composers such as Javier Jacinto (String Quartet No. 1), Javier Hombría (Light Beam Quartet), and Fabio Mengozzi (String Quartet No. 1 and "Anemoni"), and to perform works by Consuelo Díez, Philip Glass, Iannis Xenakis, Vivian Fine, Wu Man, Sam Esfahani, Carme Rodríguez, Josep Prohens, and Antoni Mairata. Composers such as Fabio Mengozzi and Jaume Rosselló Salleras have dedicated works to them, which have premiered throughout 2025.

Furthermore, the DaBraccio Quartet has recorded Carme Rodríguez's "Nordés" and Isaac Albéniz's "Mallorca," arranged for the group by Scott Anderson García, under the CasMusic label. Both are available on digital platforms.

They recently received the 2025 Contemporary Music Creation and Production Residency at the Teatre Principal in Palma, Spain, during which they recorded their first album, "Música viva," featuring works by Consuelo Díez and Jaume Rosselló, also under the CasMusic label and available on digital platforms.
