The somerset duo return to The Pound for a headline show with an unaccountably big sound, as they continue to make big waves on the UK folk scene.

The Drystones are an award winning lively folk duo from Priddy in Somerset playing violin, guitar and whistle, who have made a big splash since they formed in July 2011. They play a mix of their own tunes and arrangements of folk tunes given drive, beat and energy. They have played festivals all over the Country (including Sidmouth, Broadstairs, Warwick, Bromyard, Purbeck and Folk East), and at their 2013 Glastonbury Festival performance they were highlighted by Steve Lamacq on Radio 2 as his “recommendation of the day”.

They were the 2015 Larmer Tree Breakthrough Music Award winners and were asked by Michael Eavis to play the 2015 Glastonbury Extravaganza when Joan Armatrading had to cancel! Their third CD is a Songlines “Top Of The World” album. For just two people they make a lot of sound, you will not be bored!

'To describe their instrumental style as spirited and animated would be akin to asserting that Bellowhead can be quite an energetic band' – Clive Pownceby, Living Tradition

'The Drystones demonstrate a sophisticated musical maturity that is far beyond their ages' Folk Radio UK

'Fabulous, I haven’t seen anything like it in 45 years of folk!' Bromyard Folk Festival

'a great duo to watch out for' Folk Showcase Presenter BBC Bristol

'… obviously having such fun' Sunday Folk BBC Shropshire

THE WHITE CROW (CERT 12A)
Thu, 5 Dec 2019
Dance perfection meets political defection in director Ralph Fiennes’ intoxicating account of the young life of Soviet ballet dancer Rudolf Nureyev, whose escape to the West stunned the world at the height of the Cold War. A portrait of a brilliant, inscrutable man whose talent and temperament saw him rock the worlds of ballet and international relations.
